Tarot-Attack of titans
Challenge
The main challenge was to create a tarot deck that combined the visual style of manga with the theme of Attack on Titan. This involved designing cards that not only captured the aesthetic essence of the series but also respected the traditional symbolism and archetypes of tarot. Additionally, it was crucial to maintain a graphic coherence that reflected the dark and emotional spirit of the story.
Result
The result was a tarot card collection that seamlessly blends the manga style with the iconic elements of Attack on Titan. Each card was carefully designed to connect with the themes of the series and the meanings of the tarot, achieving a unique and cohesive aesthetic. This project successfully conveyed both the symbolism of tarot and the emotional and visual depth of the original work.

I have chosen the Death card to represent Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan due to his physical and emotional transformation. In tarot, Death symbolizes the end of a stage and the beginning of something new, reflecting how Eren, upon becoming a Titan, changes his vision and purpose, sacrificing his humanity and relationships for a greater goal. This card embodies his radical change, where destruction allows for rebirth, despite personal sacrifices.

I have chosen the sword symbol from Attack on Titan for the back of the card because it represents the Scouts’ constant battle against the Titans, as well as the conflicts and sacrifices faced by the characters. In tarot, swords symbolize the mind and moral dilemmas, perfectly connecting with the core themes of the series.
